Terry Boyd Photography

About the Artist

Terry Boyd is a native of Russellville, Arkansas, where he spent most of his childhood playing in the woods. A graduate of Rock & Tree University, Terry knew nothing about photography until purchasing his first 35mm camera from a pawnshop in his early 20s. “The first time I photographed a sunset from a bluff over the Arkansas River, I knew this was the path for me. The waters of my existence were no longer murky… instantly clear as Richland Creek in the summer time.”

Terry was very close with his father, Billy Boyd, who passed away when Terry was only 18. Billy always told him, “I hate to say it, but you would be better off to get as far away from Arkansas as you can,” and when the opportunity presented itself, Terry went about as far as he could without leaving the continent: Alaska.

“The most important rule about nature photography,” Terry says, “is be somewhere badass.” And Alaska certainly has no lack of stunning scenery. Traveling between Arkansas and Alaska every year has given him the opportunity to seek out and capture many beautiful places throughout western United States and Canada.

Now, Terry owns a business providing instructional photography tours at Denali National Park, Alaska. Through his photography, Terry has been able to honor his father’s dreams for him to see the world and have a better life than he did. Nothing brings him more joy than to share his photographs with friends and family.

Terry and his wife, Bethany, call Denali, Alaska, home for half the year (the warm & sunny part of the year) where they also own and operate a traveler’s hostel. Their home for the other half of the year is Fayetteville, Arkansas, where they enjoy the surrounding natural beauty, biking, and spending time with friends & family.
